The Georgia State Conference and Cobb County NAACP will hold a press conference in Marietta on Monday on the state's "stand your ground law".

NAACP members are requesting the release of John McNeil, a black man convicted in 2006 of murder for shooting and killing a white trespasser at McNeil's home. McNeil has served more than five years of a life sentence. The NAACP has questioned the unequal application of the "stand your ground law".

The press conference begins at 11 a.m. on the steps of the old Cobb County courthouse, 32 Wadell Street in Marietta.
