Heads up, Johns Creek: Contractors for the Georgia Department of Transportation next month are to start a seven-month repaving of Medlock Bridge Road (Ga. 141) from the Gwinnett to the Forsyth county lines.

The project is tentatively scheduled to begin in mid July, depending on the weather and the contractors’ work schedule, and be completed in February, according to a GDOT announcement.

Medlock Bridge’s condition is deteriorating, and plans call for milling, inlay and resurfacing about 5.4 miles of the road in North Fulton County, GDOT said. The department promised to keep residents informed of the start date and potential noise and traffic impacts.

“Large equipment is needed for resurfacing operations, so lane closures will be needed to ensure driver and worker safety,” GDOT said. “The contractor is limited to overnight lane closures, generally 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., seven days a week, to avoid peak commute traffic and to allow maximum work hours towards an on-schedule completion.”
