Police in the south Fulton County town of Palmetto are searching for a possible witness who may have seen a vehicle hit a 78-year-old pedestrian who was walking his dog.
Police released store surveillance photos of a white male wearing overalls and a long sleeve shirt. He's about 6 feet tall and weighs about 170 pounds. The man also is wearing a white baseball cap with a dark colored brim.
The man may have seen a vehicle strike John Turner on Carlton Road just before 9:30 a.m. Friday, police said.
Lt. Carl Robinson told the AJC the victim flown to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was in critical condition and was being treated for broken bones and internal injuries.
Turner lives at an adult care facility and walks his dog two or three times a day, two staffers told Channel 2 Action News. They said Turner was on the ground moaning in pain after being hit.
His dog, a beagle, was located unharmed after being reported missing.
The only piece of evidence police have so far is a broken headlight.
"The only we thing we know for sure is that it was a Ford," Robinson told the AJC Friday.
Police said the possible witness was driving an early 2000’s model burgundy Ford F150 king cab with what appears to be gold trim paint on the bottom. The vehicle has chrome step-ups to the doors, a chrome tool box in the bed, and appears to have a dent in the back passenger side bed area.
