Butterflies are free and so, apparently, is Internet porn, a California Appeals Court ruled Thursday.

The complaint against Redtube.com -- a free video site, like YouTube -- was brought by a company that charges for its prurient material, Time.com reports.

According to plaintiff Kevin Cammarata, Redtube.com has caused "many millions of dollars of damages to proprietors of adult entertainment websites," and "had a massive negative impact on the business model of adult website proprietors."

The appeals court was unmoved, Time reports, dismissing the complaint as an unfair attack on free speech.
