Free outdoor movie series wraps up with ‘Captain Marvel’ in Kennesaw

The city of Kennesaw will host its final Outdoor Movie Series July 27 with a screening of "Captain Marvel" at Swift-Cantrell Park.

The city of Kennesaw will host the final installment of its free Outdoor Movie Series next weekend at Swift-Cantrell Park.

The movie, set for Saturday, July 27, will feature a screening of Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Pictures' “Captain Marvel.” The show will begin at sundown, and the film will be shown on a giant inflatable screen.

Residents are encouraged to arrive at 6 p.m. for pre-movie activities, giveaways, concessions and outdoor games for children. The city encourages attendees to bring a blanket or low-back chairs. Canopies, pop-up tents and beach umbrellas can block the view of movie watchers, so those items are prohibited.

Swift-Cantrell Park is at 3140 Old Highway 41, and parking is available at the park and Kennesaw Elementary School at 3155 Jiles Road. The next movie that will be shown at the park will be Hocus Pocus on Saturday, Oct. 12. The titles of the movie are subject to change, and cancellations can are possible due to weather conditions, the city said.
