Bad weather, terrible crashes and emergency alerts will soon be at Brookhaven residents’ fingertips thanks to Smart911.

The smartphone application company has created Brookhaven Alert, a free service that allows residents to sign up for notifications sent from local and state authorities.

RELATED:

Residents can sign up for the alerts by creating a Smart911 profile and indicating if they want to receive alerts via text message, email, and/or voice message. Users can also decide if the type of alerts they want to receive, such as weather, traffic and/or emergency.

Brookhaven Alert users can also add their address for geo-targeted alerts.

For residents interested in learning more about the alert system, a presentation will be given at the Mayor’s Town Hall Meeting on 6 p.m. Thursday at Brookhaven City Hall on 4362 Peachtree Road.
