A bike skills park designed for children ages 3 to 11 is set to open Saturday, Oct. 27, as part of the Haw Creek Bike Fest at Haw Creek Park in Cumming.

The Bike Fest is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the park, 2205 Echols Road. Bike skills clinics, prizes, local bike vendors and free food will be offered.

The bike skills park will have a pump track, tot track and technical trail features found on most mountain biking trails. “It will provide a fun and safe place for children to improve their biking skills,” said Forsyth County Parks & Recreation Director Jim Pryor.

The facility was funded by SPLOST VII funds and a donation from the Forsyth County Parks Foundation in honor of Daniel Brunick, officials said. During the Bike Fest, the foundation will unveil a plaque in memory of Brunick. Haw Creek Park also has a nature-inspired playground, picnic pavilion, and 3.2 mile multi-purpose trail for walking, running and mountain biking.
