Forsyth County school officials have announced the three finalists for teacher of the year, visiting their classrooms late last week to break the news.
Becky Morris is the 2018 elementary school district teacher of the year. She’s a Kennesaw State University graduate and teaches third grade at Shiloh Point Elementary, where she’s been since 2006. Julie Stephens is the middle school instructor of the year, and is an interrelated special education teacher at Lakeside Middle School. She’s taught in the district since 2011 and has a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University, as well as a master’s from Grand Canyon University. High school teacher of the year Jonas Strecker joined the district in 2014 and has a bachelor’s from Bamberg University in Germany and a master’s from West Virginia University. He teaches German at South Forsyth High School.
The overall teacher of the year will be announced at a March 9 luncheon.
