Forsyth County Chief Judge T. Russell McClelland has been elected president of the Council of State Court Judges of Georgia, the county announced. More than 147 state court judges and senior judges make up the council’s membership.

As president of the group, the county said, McClelland will lead its mission of improving the state court and the quality and expertise of its judges; maintaining the judiciary’s impartiality, fairness and efficiency and its uniform administration of justice; and enhancing public confidence in the judicial system.

McClelland is also a member of the Judicial Council, the governing body of Georgia’s judicial branch.

“When 129 of your peers ask you to serve, it’s an honor,” McClelland said. “I deeply appreciate it and accept this honor on behalf of the people of Forsyth County. … I will continue to be an ambassador for my home county and to represent all state courts to the best of my ability.”
