A former CNN executive and UGA professor made the national news again Tuesday in a most unflattering way, after being caught on camera stuffing his dog’s droppings into a neighbor’s mailbox in Covington.

Good Morning America on Tuesday ran the surveillance video that showed former CNN Headline News president Bob Furnad walking his dog, then opening a neighbor’s mailbox and leaving a plastic bag filled with doggie do.

That neighbor, Benjamin Dameron, told GMA, “we cannot figure out why he did it. At this point, we really don’t care why he did it.”

Furnad, who according to his LinkedIn profile taught broadcast news reporting and writing at the University of Georgia from 2002 to 2005 and again from 2009 to 2011, told the Covington News, "This was an immature act in response to years of malicious rumor mongering that I consider defamation of character."

But Dameron and Ralph Miller, who live in Worthington Manor, the historic Covington home that is known to Vampire Diaries fans as "Lockwood Manor," told GMA that they hadn’t spoken to Furnad in years.

Furnad was ticketed for littering.
