A popular Gwinnett County seafood restaurant failed its recent health inspection, with officials reporting "mold-like accumulation" in the ice machine and flies "throughout the prep area."

Red Crawfish Seafood and Wings, located at 1820 North Brown Road in Lawrenceville, received a 53/U following the Monday afternoon evaluation.

In addition to the mold in the ice machine, the inspector reported finding a "working condiment bottle of marinara sauce with [a] mold-like substance." An employee was also seen "picking green onions out of ready-to-eat rice with bare hands."

Another employee was spotted not wearing a hair restraint, and "several cleaning items" were stored in the hand-washing sink, the report said.

A Red Crawfish employee said a manager was not available for comment Tuesday afternoon.

A follow-up inspection will be completed within 10 days of Monday's evaluation.
