Fire destroys business in Gwinnett shopping center
A fire destroyed a business in the Spalding Center at Spalding Drive and Holcombe Bridge Road in Gwinnett County, Friday, May 15, 2015.

May 23, 2015Gwinnett County firefighters responded to a fire at Sterling Center at Spalding Drive and Holcombe Bridge Road on Friday night.
Fire department spokesperson Lt. Jerrod Barrett said passersby reported the fire at the shopping center around 9:15 p.m. Firefighters worked quickly to stop the blaze from spreading to a gas station and other businesses nearby, he said. The business was believed to be closed when the fire started.
The fire destroyed much of the building that is believed to house a pet business; fire officials did not know if animals were inside. Spalding Drive was closed just before Holcombe Bridge Road while firefighters worked to contain the blaze.
