The Federal Emergency Management Agency wants residents living in the Upper Chattahoochee River Region to “Resolve to be Ready” for disasters by learning about their updated flood risks on recently released preliminary flood insurance rate maps.
The mapping project covers a 107-mile stretch of the river from Buford Dam to Coweta County, and includes seven metro Atlanta counties.
Residents can buy reduced-rate flood insurance before the maps take effect next year.
