The FBI is searching for a man believed to be responsible for a string of metro Atlanta bank robberies at Wells Fargo and SunTrust since July.

The most recent robbery was Oct. 13 at a Wells Fargo on Redan Road in Stone Mountain.

FBI Special Agent Stephen Emmett said the robber usually enters the bank, waits patiently in line, and then writes a demand note. He keeps his head down to “stay under the radar” and keep his face from surveillance cameras, Emmett said.

In bank surveillance photos released by the FBI, the black male suspect appears to be wearing a baseball cap and T-shirt except in one image, which shows him wearing a shirt and tie without a jacket. He is believed to be in his 30s to early 40s and 180 to 200 pounds.

While he has only handed a teller a demand note, “we have to assume that he is armed and dangerous,” Emmett said.

The suspect is wanted in the holdup of Wells Fargo at 1815 Rockbridge Road in Stone Mountain on July 11 and two robberies of the Wells Fargo at 4798 Redan Road in Stone Mountain on Aug. 12 and Oct. 13. He is also wanted in the Sept. 16 robbery of a SunTrust Bank at 3870 North Druid Hills Road in Decatur.

“We feel he’s responsible for at least four [robberies] and we are certainly looking at the possibility that it could be more,” Emmett said.

The special agent wouldn’t say how much money the suspect has been given.
