Two music teachers at Whitewater High School in Fayette County have resigned after being arrested earlier this year for allegedly soliciting prostitutes on the popular Web site Craigslist.

Douglas Dee, the school's band director, and chorus teacher Kelly Butler resigned on Thursday. Fayette County Schools also posted the job openings on the system's Web site on Thursday.

According to DeKalb County Jail records, Dee and Butler, who live in Peachtree City, were arrested in May on pandering charges.

WSB-TV reported that the teachers, who are romantically involved, were arrested after they contacted an advertiser on Craigslist, then drove to a Dunwoody hotel and offered $200 to two women, who turned out to be undercover officers.

"Craigslist is out of control," DeKalb Solicitor General Robert James told the station. "It's the virtual street corner here in DeKalb County and all over the nation."

Dee, 39, pleaded not guilty in court Thursday morning, while Butler, 33, waived her appearance.
