Eleven Fayette County teachers have received nearly $10,000 worth of grants from Coweta-Fayette EMC to purchase classroom materials.

The 2019 Bright Ideas grants, ranging from $160 to nearly $1,500, will be used to implement special programs and projects whose costs are not covered by the school system’s regular budget. This year’s grant recipients are Justin Spencer, Starr’s Mill High; Bethany Lambert and Khalia Preyer, Sandy Creek High; Mae-Lee Terrell and Grace Cannon, McIntosh High; Charles Harper, Flat Rock Middle; Sharon Callier, Michelle Ward and DeLacey Wilkins, Bennett’s Mill Middle; Laura Brown, Braelinn Elementary; and Kayla Johnson, Oak Grove Elementary.

Examples of projects being funded are gel electrophoresis chambers for studying DNA and protein fragments, and models by Anatomy in Clay for studying the human body from the inside out.
