Visitors to Fayette County’s public schools will be subject to new security measures, as recently approved by the Board of Education.

All schools will have security vestibules with two or more sets of doors and a sign-in area, which can only be reached after someone is vetted by an outside intercom and camera. A kiosk will scan each visitor’s driver’s license for a background check and print a name badge for the guest to wear.

The new K-12 Checkmate Pro visitor management system is being funded by $50,000 of state safety grant funds, as approved by the BOE on June 16, and will cost each school less than $500 a year for annual software renewals. Also, Fayette school buses will be linked to the MyStop app, which can be used to track bus locations in real time for picking up and dropping off students.

See www.fcboe.org/mystop for details.
