After several months of construction to replace a corroded stormwater pipe, Rising Star Road in Fayette County has reopened to traffic.

The stretch of road between Brooks Woolsey Road and Old Greenville Road had been closed since April to complete the high-priority project, which was funded by the 2017 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax. Following significant flooding in December 2015, the culvert near Brooks Woolsey Road was deemed failing, resulting in the replacement of two damaged metal pipes with two 66-foot-long concrete box culverts. Location complications and poor weather delayed the project and prolonged the detour.

New guardrails will be installed on Sept. 5, which might cause minor traffic delays.
