Faced with a roomful of opponents and a petition with more than 500 signatures, the Fayette County Board of Commissioners voted 4-1 Thursday to reject a rezoning request from a housing developer.

The proposal sought to rezone 212 acres off Ebenezer Church Road and Davis Road to build 91 single-family homes, most of which would occupy fewer than two acres. Nearby property owners opposed the plan based on the higher density compared to surrounding lots, concerns about stormwater drainage, and because Davis Road is narrow and unpaved.
