Drivers can expect delays on Ga. 20 near Suwanee Dam Road on Monday night as crews create the busy intersection's "final alignment."

Traffic will be shifted between 8 p.m. and midnight and will affect about one-third of a mile of roadway. Side streets will still be accessible and flaggers will guide drivers as needed.

The shift is part of Gwinnett's efforts to widen about four miles of Ga. 20 in the Sugar Hill area, a project which is expected to be completed by early next year.

"Traffic shifts can be inconvenient to drivers and we work to keep them to a minimum," Gwinnett Department of Transportation director Alan Chapman said in a news release. "But it means work is getting done."
