Authorities gave the all-clear at Ridgeview Charter School, which was evacuated for more than an hour Monday morning due to a suspicious package.

"Nothing suspicious was found and the kids were allowed to go back to class," Sandy Springs Police spokesman Steve Rose said.

A staff member found what appeared to be an unusual package in a hallway, said Susan Hale, Fulton County school spokeswoman. She said about 1,000 people, including students and faculty, were evacuated to the soccer fields. Hale said the package appeared to be a game casing, but "It was not something that belonged in a school building and just was very unusual."

Monday is the first day of classes in Fulton County.
