The Stockbridge ethics board is investigating a complaint a City Council member has been a consistent no-show at meetings and work sessions.
Council member Fred Evans has not been at a regular council meeting or work session since early May, according to city records. So far this year, he has missed three of the nine regular meetings and two of the six work sessions.
Yet Evans, an electrician, has shown up each month this year to collect the $700 check paid to City Council members.
Several calls to Evans over two days seeking comment were not returned.
In a separate matter, Evans bounced an $1,800 check at a local auto repair shop and has yet to pay, according to another complaint filed with the ethics board. Thurman's Transmission Service in Stockbridge made repairs to Evans' truck in January 2010. Evans wrote a check that bounced, Robert Thurman said Thursday, and has yet to pay the bill.
Evans has been a council member for 12 years. His seat is up for election on Nov. 8.
