Elderly woman, son killed in Athens fire
An elderly woman and her son died in an overnight house fire in Athens.
The blaze broke out Thursday night in a home on Martin Circle just east of downtown Athens.
The bodies of the 84-year-old woman and 54-year-old man were discovered shortly after 9 p.m. as Athens-Clarke County firefighters searched the burning home, AM750 and 95.5FM News/Talk WSB reported early Friday.
Their names were not immediately released.
Authorities have not said what caused the fire.
