The Atlanta Community Food Bank received an egg-tra special delivery this week.
Rose Acre Farms donated more than 108,000 eggs to the nonprofit. Eggs are are important as a food source because they are rich in nutrients.
This is the fourth year that United Egg Producers and the Feeding American network of food banks have teamed up in the fight against hunger. Overall, egg farmers are expected to donate millions of eggs to food banks.
The food bank was founded in 1979 and distributes more than 2 million pounds of food and other donated grocery items each month to more than 700 partner nonprofits in 38 counties in metro Atlanta and North Georgia.
