The East Roswell Library was recently awarded a LEED gold certification for its green energy initiatives.

Roswell’s library on Holcomb Bridge Road was recognized Tuesday by the U.S. Green Building Council for achieving the highest rating for energy efficiency in buildings. The gold LEED – Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design -- certification project is the first for Fulton County.

Sustainability consultant Belinda Morrow said five previous library projects have achieved LEED Silver Certification status since December 2015. The difference with this project was the library attempted more conservation efforts, which earned the East Roswell location additional points.

The 15,000-square-foot library broke ground in August 2013 and opened in February 2015. KHAFRA Engineering and HBM Architects provided design and engineering services for the library.
