The city of Dunwoody is hosting a public information open house on Phase 2 of the Ashford Dunwoody Road Trail on Jan. 23 at Dunwoody City Hall, 4800 Ashford Dunwoody Road, Dunwoody.

This project is an extension of Phase 1 and will continue from the terminus of Phase 1 at Perimeter Center West to Mt. Vernon Road. The open house will be conducted between 5 and 7 p.m.

This project proposes to develop separated pedestrian and bicycle facilities along Ashford Dunwoody Road between Hammond Drive and Mount Vernon Road.

The commuter pathways being implemented by this project will help connect the office communities with the commercial businesses and residents along the Ashford Dunwoody Road corridor to the Dunwoody MARTA station. This pathway will greatly increase access to jobs, enabling MARTA and other public transportation systems to be more effective and have a broader geographic and socio-economic reach. These commuter pathways are among the most effective ways of meeting the “the last mile” connectivity challenge in this critical geographic area of Georgia’s transportation system which employs over 125,000 people.

The business community is providing financial support for this project through the Perimeter Community Improvement District and the City of Dunwoody is contributing funding through the hotel/motel tax fund for tourism development.
