Dunwoody police on Friday arrested two men in connection with the shooting death earlier this week of a local resident – apparently a victim of mistaken identity – at the apartment complex where he lived.

Kevin Stallworth, 30, of College Park was arrested in Jonesboro on Friday morning and charged with murder in the death of Ivan Perez, police said.

The 32-year-old homicide victim was found shot at about 3:40 p.m. Monday outside at the Pointe at Perimeter Apartments, police said. Perez was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“He wasn’t the intended target,” Dunwoody Police Department spokesman Sgt. Mike Carlson told the AJC in a phone interview late Friday night. Carlson declined to disclose who was the target or why, saying the investigation was continuing.

Another suspect, Antiwan Lane, 33, of Norcross was arrested Friday night and charged with murder for hire, Carlson said.

“Through the course of our investigation, we were led to Mr. Stallworth, and through our investigation through him, we were led to Mr. Lane,” the police spokesman said.

The two men were taken into custody without incident and are being held in DeKalb County Jail, Carlson said.
