A man was killed and two other people were injured when he lost control of his car and hit an oncoming SUV, a Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said.

Brian Lee Potter, 55, of Gainesville, died at the scene on Browns Bridge Road at Bethel Road on Tuesday night, Cpl. Doug Rainwater said in a news release.

Investigators said Potter was driving a 2005 Mercedes-Benz heading west on Browns Bridge Road when the crash happened about 9:50 p.m.

The car crossed the center line and hit an eastbound 2017 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Salim Manji, 57, of Gainesville. Manji was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries, Rainwater said.

A juvenile male family member of Potter’s, who was a passenger in the Mercedes, was flown to a hospital with injuries.

Sheriff’s officials are investigating the cause of the crash.
