Driver charged after 8 hurt in Johns Creek head-on crash
A driver has been charged in connection with the Johns Creek accident that sent two children in the driver's vehicle and six others to the hospital Saturday.
None of the injuries were life threatening, Lt. Chris Byers of the Johns Creek Police Department told the AJC Sunday.
The accident occurred just after 1 p.m. Saturday on McGinnis Ferry Road near the Gwinnett and Forsyth county line. The driver of a Honda vehicle that crossed a median and hit an oncoming SUV has been charged with failure to maintain lane and with two counts of failure to properly restrain a child, Byers said.
Both children were taken to Scottish Rite Hospital, according to Byers, who did not yet have the names or ages of anyone involved in the accident; one of the children was released Saturday night and the other was held overnight for observation.
Of the five people riding in the SUV that was struck, the driver was the worst injured with “a few fractures” and was taken to North Fulton Medical hospital, Byers said. A child less than a year old was properly restrained in that vehicle and suffered only “a bit of a rash from the straps” on the car seat.
