A Douglas County man who allegedly failed to disclose to his girlfriend that he has AIDS was charged Monday with felony of reckless conduct.
Donte Martell Rhone is being held without bond in Douglas County jail, authorities said.
"There is no doubt he is a threat to the community, a lethal threat at that, and that is why we opposed bond," said David McDade, Douglas County District Attorney.
Rhone was born HIV-positive on July 4, 1986, according to the Douglas County Sentinel. Rhone was diagnosed with AIDS in October 2005.
Rhone began a relationship with the victim three years ago, the newspaper said.
The woman has since been diagnosed with the HIV infection, according to the Sentinel.
According to the Douglas County District Attorney's office, the case has not been a assigned a prosecutor yet. The Sheriff's Office stated that the case is still an open investigation.
