Two June public meetings will be held by the Douglas County Board of Commissioners to hear from residents on a possible referendum in the Nov. 8 general election for a one-cent Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.

If called and approved by the voters, the SPLOST would last for six years, beginning April 2017, and is estimated to bring in $160 million for capital improvements and construction projects in the county.

The board is asking for input and project ideas from the public during these meetings at 6 p.m. June 7 at the Dog River Library, 6100 Highway 5, Douglasville and 6 p.m. June 16 at Anneewakee Falls/Trails Clubhouse, 3000 Anneewakee Falls Parkway, Douglasville.

Each meeting will have the same agenda.

Residents also may email their project ideas to SPLOST@co.douglas.ga.us.
