Dougherty County School Superintendent Joshua Murfree and school system lawyer Tommy Coleman have met with former Attorney General Michael Bowers regarding a state investigation into whether cheating has taken place on state tests.
The Albany Herald reports the two South Georgia school officials were asked to go to Atlanta for the meeting with Bowers, one of the investigators. They are seeking to determine whether there had been cheating on 2009 CRCT exams in the district.
Bowers said investigators wanted to meet with the school officials and let them know how they were going to proceed with the investigation.
Gov. Nathan Deal has said he wants to continue the state probe into possible cheating in Dougherty County schools. A state investigation into Atlanta Public Schools uncovered widespread cheating in that district.
