A $7,500 donation will help DeKalb County firefighters fight fires in high-rise buildings.

The Dunwoody Rotary Club will award the check to DeKalb Fire and Rescue Stations 12, 18 and 21 to purchase new equipment, officials said Friday.

“This equipment will aid our personnel in the quick deployment of specially designed lightweight hoses, nozzles and adapters that have to be carried up the stairwells in a high-rise fire, which will increase the protection of life and property,” Interim Fire Chief Eddie O’Brien said.

The county commission, which must approve all donations, is scheduled to vote on accepting it Feb. 8.
