A dog found with an arrow in his head is expected to survive his injuries. But Fulton County officials want to find out who is responsible for the animal cruelty.
The mixed breed pit bull was found Tuesday evening on Kenner Drive in southwest Atlanta after a resident called police, county animal services spokeswoman Jolene Butts Freeman said Wednesday.
The dog was transported to an emergency veterinarian, who removed the arrow, Freeman said. The dog is recovering at the Pets are People Too animal hospital and will be available for adoption when healed.
Fulton County Animal Services is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the person responsible for putting the arrow in the animal's head, Freeman said.
“This is an act of animal cruelty, plain and simple," Tony Phillips, assistant director of Fulton County Environment and Community Development, said in a statement. "We cannot tolerate this type of inhumane behavior in Fulton County and will use all available means to identify the perpetrators.”
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact animal services at 404-613-0358.
