At an annual conference of the National Sheriff’s Association in New Orleans, DeKalb County Sheriff Jeffrey  Mann recently accepted the agency’s second Triple Crown Accreditation award, which only 16 sheriffs’ offices have gotten twice.

The Triple Crown designation refers to simultaneous accreditation by the American Correctional Association, the National Commission on Correctional Health Care and the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.

“Acquiring all three at the same time is an extraordinary feat,” the National Sheriff’s Association said on its site. “In fact, the Triple Crown distinction is so rare, that since the establishment of the award in 1993, fewer than 100 sheriffs' offices have qualified.”

Mann said his office’s pursuit of excellence is unwavering.

“We will not fail in our commitment to DeKalb County citizens, who deserve no less than our best,” he said.
