DeKalb County parents have another chance to express their concerns about the proposed school budget cuts Wednesday night.

The school board will hold public hearings for the budget Wednesday and April 28. Both hearings are scheduled for 6 p.m. at the William Bradley Bryant Technology Center at 2652 Lawrenceville Highway in Decatur.

Chief Financial Officer Marcus Turk will outline the tentative fiscal year 2011 budget, which was approved by the board last week. The budget includes $115 million in cuts and no property tax increase.

The cuts include layoffs of central office workers, paraprofessionals, media clerks and technical specialists. The budget also includes furlough days, reductions in the magnet programs and closing four elementary schools.

The board will issue a final approval on the $735 million operating budget on May 10.
