DeKalb County Police meet national standards, a law enforcement accrediting agency said.

The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies voted this weekend to renew DeKalb’s accreditation, Chief William O’Brien said.

The department has been accredited since 1991, but is required to be re-assessed every three years.

The accrediting agency visited DeKalb in December to assess the department’s compliance with 464 national standards. This weekend, O’Brien travelled to Maryland to answer questions before the accrediting board.
