The DeKalb County Board of Health will open another free COVID-19 testing site today in an area hit hard by the virus.

The new testing site is in the parking lot of the former K-Mart store at 5597 Buford Highway NE in Doraville, not far from I-285. Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

As of last week, the Buford Highway corridor near Brookhaven, Chamblee and Doraville had more than 18% of DeKalb’s confirmed COVID-19 cases, officials said.

“The DeKalb County Board of Health is doing its best to ensure that every resident that desires a COVID-19 test has access to one, particularly those in areas we know to have a high burden of infection,” Dr. Elizabeth Ford, DeKalb’s district health director, said in a news release.

Testing is free and open to all, but registration is required. Those interested in scheduling an appointment can visit dekalbhealth.net or call 404-294-3700 and selection Option 1.

The county also has testing available at several other locations:
