DeKalb County Schools will find out Thursday whether it still meets national accreditation standards, after a string of controversies including the indictment of a former superintendent and allegations teachers cheated on standardized tests.

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools is scheduled to release its report on DeKalb Schools at a 2 p.m. press conference. The board will meet at 4 p.m. to review and discuss the findings.

A team from the accrediting agency visited the district in January to conduct the review.

SACS is particularly concerned about the board securing a permanent superintendent, implementing newly enacted policies and procedures, addressing ongoing legal matters and improving its governing effectiveness.

The board meeting will be held at the district’s headquarters, 1701 Mountain Industrial Boulevard, Stone Mountain.
