A fire early Tuesday destroyed a home in DeKalb County and displaced a family of five, a spokeswoman for the American Red Cross said.

The fire happened at a home in the 2900 block of Belleau Lane, which is off Clifton Church Road in Decatur.

Red Cross spokeswoman Sherry Nicholson said the humanitarian organization is providing emergency assistance to help the five adults with immediate needs such as lodging, food and clothing.

“Caseworkers will continue to follow-up with the family to help them get back on their feet,” Nicholson said in a statement.
