DeKalb County authorities have arrested a fugitive on the run for more than a month after allegedly shooting a man seven times and killing him.
Darnell Kyle Adams has been charged with murder for the January shooting death of 46-year-old Monty Lowe, police said. A motive has not been determined, they said.
Around 10:30 a.m. Jan. 24, police were called to Lowe’s home in the 2400 block of Wesley Chapel Road near Decatur, according to police records.
There, a DeKalb police officer saw a witness who knew Lowe crying and pacing through the house and Lowe’s body lying in a corner, police said.
Upon determining a suspect, investigators contacted the DeKalb County Sheriff’s fugitive squad. Wednesday, deputies arrested Adams, 26, at his home in the 1600 block of Camperdown Circle near Decatur, sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Adrion Bell said.
Adams has had several previous arrests, according to DeKalb court records, including a 2009 arrest for felony drug possession and theft by receiving. He served nearly 13 months in DeKalb County jail after pleading guilty to giving false information to police.
He is being held without bond in DeKalb County jail on the murder charge.
