Economic development officials announced Sept. 21 the arrival in Roswell of a Danish supplier of intelligent energy and water metering equipment that will mean 52 jobs for North Fulton County.

Kamstrup, based in Skanderborg, Denmark, will locate its North American headquarters in Roswell, according to the Georgia Department of Economic Development. The company employs more than 1,200 people worldwide.

“By the rapidly growing sales in U.S.A. and need for a production plant in North America, Atlanta and Fulton County was the natural choice,” Kamstrup CEO Lars Bo Kristensen said in a prepared statement.

A spokeswoman with Roswell Inc, economic development agency for the city, said the group has worked on the project for several months with the state, Danish Trade Commission in Atlanta, Metro Atlanta Chamber and Georgia Power.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
