A Forsyth County woman was struck by a pickup truck and killed while trying to cross Ga. 400 Thursday night.

The incident happened about 7 p.m. near Settingdown Circle in northern Forsyth County.

According to Forsyth sheriff's Cpl. David Garrison, Juanita Cole, 49, of Cumming stepped into the path of a southbound  Ford F-150 truck driven by Kim Mills, 50, of Dawsonville.

Garrison said Cole might have been going from her nearby home to a Chevron convenience store at Ga. 400 and Settingdown Circle. The area is not lighted and Cole was wearing dark clothing, Garrison said.

The incident remains under investigation, but no charges have been filed.
