Couple in Cherokee house fire leaps from roof
Photos: A Cherokee County couple jumped from the roof of their home in Sackman Falls Court near Holly Springs to escape a fast-spreading early-morning blaze that engulfed the house, fire officials said.

!["The fire was spreading fairly quickly, and [neighbors] were trying to assist them in getting down," said Tim Cavender, spokesman for Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services. "Flames were pretty bad to the point that they told them to jump from the house, and some of the neighbors carried them farther down to the street."](https://images.ajc.com/resizer/v2/MCC3TJD7TRZAZKUK43VV6B6MLI.jpg?auth=3a374faa394b9aa4c814c1c9591eb66bb6078c4cfb4786c798b12d922aef313c&width=3840&height=2565&smart=true)
