Investigators got high to bust a marijuana-growing operation in Barrow County. They spotted the illegal plants from a helicopter.
Those officers then alerted officers on the ground, who seized 54 marijuana plants from a wooded area off Argonne Road in Winder, according to Investigator Matt Guthas with the Barrow County Sheriff's Office. The street value of the marijuana would have been in excess of $64,000.
The man living on the property, Robert Evan Miller, tried to destroy the plants as officers approached them, Guthas said. Miller, 50, was taken into custody Thursday and charged with one count of manufacturing marijuana. The illegal plants were seized.
Several law enforcement agencies participated in the air search Thursday, including Barrow authorities, Georgia State Patrol and the Georgia National Guard.
