The Gwinnett County school bus driver hospitalized after veering off the road and crashing into a sign this week suffered a heart attack, police said Thursday.

The crash happened early Tuesday morning near the intersection of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and North Berkeley Lake Road. School officials confirmed the crash that day, saying that no students were aboard and the driver had to be hospitalized, but did not release any further information.

They said the driver "sustained a heart attack and went off the road, causing only damage to a sign and the school bus."

Another Gwinnett County school bus was involved in a crash Thursday morning. Officials said 39 students were aboard the bus but no injuries were reported.
