Atlanta police arrested a suspect in the shooting death of a woman who died after being dropped off at Grady Memorial Hospital early Tuesday.
Police spokeswoman Kim Jones said George Crawford, 45, was charged with murder in the shooting death of 23-year-old Kristen Whitaker.
Crawford allegedly drove up to Grady about 5:20 a.m. Tuesday saying that he needed help.
"Medical personnel removed a female victim from a vehicle and took her into the emergency room," Jones said. "The male then drove away."
Homicide detectives, with the help of surveillance video, were able to identify and arrest Crawford, who is being held in the Fulton County Jail.
Whitaker died of a gunshot wound to her hip. Jones said the shooting occurred in the 800 block of Brookline Street in southwest Atlanta.
