Tia Young and Harvey Timothy Lee were arrested in connection with the Nov. 17 death of 43-year-old George Young, according to Gwinnett jail records.

George Young thought his wife Tia Young and friend Harvey “Tim” Lee offered to put a tracking device on his car because they were worried about his safety.

A Gwinnett County detective said during a hearing Wednesday that Lee and Tia Young used the tracking device to orchestrate George Young’s killing in November 2017, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Lee and Tia Young have both been charged with murder in connection with George Young’s shooting death. George Young was shot on his Buford doorstep as he returned home from working a security job Nov. 17.

Lee and Tia Young were having an affair while Lee lived with the Youngs, police said. Tia Young and Lee planned George Young’s killing in order to collect a $1 million insurance policy, according to police.

The pair were in court for a preliminary hearing in Gwinnett County on Wednesday, April 18. Police did not find gunshot residue on Tia Young or Lee, and the murder weapon has not been found, Det. David Smith said at the hearing.

The issue of bond was sent to superior court; both Lee and Tia Young remain in the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.
