Construction has started by Marietta on the $4.7 million multi-use Kennesaw Mountain to Chattahoochee River Trail that should be completed by October.

Also known as the Mountain to River Trail, this project will connect the mountain to the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area at Paces Mill, a total of 14 miles.

Marietta has started construction on the city’s 2.4 miles portion of the trail that will connect to the existing trail at Tower Road and Roselane Avenue, passing through downtown along the existing quarter-mile Marietta Walk, crossing over South Marietta Parkway with a new pedestrian bridge and ending at West Atlanta Street and Pearl Street at the southern city limits, she added.

The project is funded by both a $2 million federal grant and $2.7 million in special purpose local option sales tax funds, Wiles said.

Project updates are available by emailing Construction@mariettaga.gov with KMCR Trail as the subject.
