Rehabilitation of the Concord Road Covered Bridge near Smyrna should be completed by the end of this year. The Cobb County Board of Commissioners unanimously agreed to pay $802,959 to Suncoast Restoration and Waterproofing, the low bidder.

Repairs will include installing steel-stiffening frames inside the bridge, cleaning and painting the existing steel, repairing one of the bridge supports, replacing the guardrail and repairing the roof and exterior siding. With 7,000 to 10,000 cars traveling it each day, the bridge, which was built in the 1800s, has the highest traffic count of all covered bridges in Georgia combined, according to the county.
